Started playing around with making music a good few years ago now and I'm still learning!
I lean toward more old school styles of Techno, house and trance, as well as drum and bass all with long intros.
I have tried my hand at other genres but I do certainly favour 140bpm or faster!

What type of musician are you?
All kinds, but mainly I concentrate on House, Trance, Techno and Drum & Bass...
Give a brief history of yourself:
I started playing with Fruitiloops (FL Studio as it's now called!) several years ago. my full time job is a professional Crown Servant, and I used to be an abstract photographer before that and an off road driver/navigator.
What is the next goal for Chris Nicholson?
Furthering my career as well as trying to get my music onto a label.
What are your musical influences?
Old school stuff from the late 80's and throughout the 90's. Labels such as Platypus Records through to Good Looking Records and the artist associated, such as Union Jack etc. Other influences include Carl Cox and many of the orig Rave scene like DJ Slipmatt, Hype and so many more...
What are your non musical influences?
I take a great deal from my full time job. the things I see and people i meet ultimately influence the way in which I think and also make music.
What are your songs are about?
I am not entirely sure. I just let my mind work the software and see what occurs. Some days I will create a tune or melody which sounds just right and work on it from there. Most of my tunes turn out quite dark in their mood, whether that has some bearing on me is another question! For some other obscure reason, no matter what i try and do, my tunes always have long intros...dont ask!
What inspires you to do what you do?
initially it was boredom, but mainly because i hear a lot of crap in the charts, MTV Dance and on the radio. There are better tunes here than there...
What type of gear do you use?
FL Studio 4....but now trying FL Studio 7....its a whole new ball game!
What are some of your pet peeves?
never having a big enough computer to handle the complex tunes etc!!!!

OK, so maybe there was a slight over hyped panic caused over the last few days to a week regarding the all precious computer with the music and the sad possibility that it might have all been lost thanks to a bunch of inbred jumped up builders who share a single brain cell each other thursday....
due to an amazing thought of pure brilliance, we decided it might just be possible to in fact, remove the computer, open it and CLEAN it from the dust and establish whether it works or not...
Well...
An update!!
It appears that it will be at least 3 weeks before new tunes, and even samples begin to filter back on-line, as mentioned on the previous blog.
However, attempts are being made as we write this, to recover the stranded and dust ridden computer et al.
Keep watching this space - it might mean samples and tunes will start to filter through a bit sooner than before expected!
Don't forget, that samples and tunes first appear on Chris Nicholson (Babulous site!) as well as...
